New Expectation and Goals (ver. 2019)

Hey everyone!

We’re back to our regularly scheduled program now that NaNoWriMo is over! If you’re still following this blog after last month… thank you! I know that it was very heavily NaNo based, but that’s all I was focusing on in the past month.

Today’s post is going to be about what I plan on doing for the rest of this month and the beginning of 2019.

What to expect:

In the next few months, I’ll be working on rewrites and editing and I know that I’ve posted about rewrites and editing before, so I won’t be writing too much about that. I wanted to focus more on the other side to writing, which is what to do when you’re done.

I’ve been following a few indie authors and joined a group on Facebook that have been giving me some insight on what I should do next after I finish (completely finish) my novella. So, while I figure it out, I’ll be posting on here to discuss the challenges I’m facing and what I’ve found to be the most useful when it comes to self-publishing.

I’m still writing short stories in the interim, so there will be a lot of writing prompted shorts that I’ll be posting for you all to read. I hope you enjoyed the most recent one I’ve posted.

Goals for 2019:

Okay, so the biggest goal for 2019 is to publish my short story anthology and my novella. I know that’s going to be a lot to accomplish, especially when I’m already tight on budget, but since these are my first attempts, I figured I’ll try to do the best I can. I can always go and “re-publish” them in the future with better polished covers.

Second goal is to continue to write engaging blog posts! I love writing blog posts. I’m not sure if I’m really doing it the right way, but this is very therapeutic for me to write about how I’m doing on my journey.

Third goal is to have another novella or novel written to be published for mid 2020. It might just be the NaNo novel that I wrote last month. I’m not entirely sure I want that.

And my final goal is separate from my writing element which is to work on a film — whether it be my own screenplay or a film being shot near where I’m living. I know this one is not related to writing (well it is if I’m shooting my own screenplay), but working on films is still a part of my career path. Don’t get me wrong I love writing, but I also love being a part of something that ultimately will entertain thousands of people.

Nothing beats being on set with fellow filmmakers. I miss being around the film community and I’m looking forward to working with some new people in the future.

These are big goals that I’m setting for myself so I won’t be disappointed if I don’t hit every single one, but I’ll be happy if I accomplish at least one of them.

I appreciate every one of you readers for keeping up with my blog and following me through my journey this past year.

Thanks for reading!

-Emi
